Visual Art

From Exploration to Artistic Voice

Students begin by discovering the joy of creating through drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and clay. As they grow, they learn to observe carefully, plan their work, develop craftsmanship, and use increasingly sophisticated materials and techniques.
In Elementary School, art expands into new forms, including technology through projects such as stop-motion animation. By Middle School, students use art to explore identity, culture, history, and society, developing a distinctive artistic voice. Grade 8 culminates in independent work that brings together research, symbolism, technical skill, and personal perspective.

Explore & Create → Observe & Plan → Experiment & Communicate → Develop an Artistic Voice

Music

From First Beat to Confident Performance

Students begin with singing, movement, percussion, rhythm, and early music literacy. As their skills grow, they learn to read music and develop the listening and ensemble skills that prepare them for instrumental study.

Formal instrumental instruction begins with recorder in Grade 3 and guitar in Grade 4, progressing into classical guitar, ensemble musicianship, chorus, sight reading, harmony, and increasingly sophisticated repertoire. By Middle School, students bring together technique and expression as confident, increasingly independent musicians.

Discover Music → Build Instrumental Skills → Play Together → Perform with Expression

Create. Express. Connect.

Through visual art and music, HudsonWay students develop creativity, technical skill, confidence, and an increasingly independent artistic voice. From early exploration through Middle School, experiences build progressively—giving students the skills to create, perform, collaborate, and communicate with purpose.
