Summer @ HWIS

Language Immersion Summer Camp @ HWIS offers to all children, ages 2 to 12, the chance to spend the summer in a full immersion environment. Camp is taught, in Mandarin or Spanish, by experienced native speakers. We group our students by age and level to ensure the best learning environment.

Each two-week study provides an age-appropriate perspective on important aspects of our world – integrating art, music, culture, and language learning. Students acquire an appreciation for diverse cultures while developing language skills in a Mandarin or Spanish immersion environment. Each theme culminates in a project and presentation. Camp runs from 9am—3pm (or 9am—12pm for half-day campers).

For campus specific tuition, visit the Summer @ HWIS page on either the Stirling Campus or Midtown West Campus website. Registration opens in early 2020. Check back soon!

Examples from this past year's themes. . .

Under the Sea

Campers “travel” under the sea to explore fish, whales, sharks, and other marine life, and further explore the aquatic world through nature and crafts projects. Of course, no Under the Sea week would be complete without some wet & wild water games, and plenty of other ways of beating the summer heat!

Junior Chef

The mission: to engage aspiring home cooks with an exciting and enriching culinary experience. Campers develop strong cooking capabilities, healthy eating habits, and personal growth skills while having the time of their lives. Through team challenges and competitions, they form strong connections and create unforgettable memories!

HudsonWay Olympics

Activities include various summer and winter Olympic sports, often tweaked in fun and creative ways. Our elementary students will also explore how throughout history the Olympics have helped bring countries closer together, and learn the personal stories and triumphs that are forever a part of history.

Most of our summer campers return each year and continue their language learning in our After School Language (ASL) program.
