Global Learning

From Language Proficiency to Global Citizenship

At HudsonWay, global learning begins with language but extends far beyond it. Students develop the ability to communicate across languages and cultures, understand different perspectives, engage directly with people and communities around the world, and use what they learn to contribute with purpose.

1. Language Opens the Door

Advanced Proficiency

STAMP assessments measure listening, speaking, reading, and writing beginning in Grade 3.

Global Seal of Biliteracy

HudsonWay graduates demonstrate the proficiency required to earn an internationally recognized biliteracy credential.

Language in Action

2. Learning to See the World Differently

Global competence is intentionally developed across the curriculum. As students grow, they learn not only about the world, but how to understand it from different perspectives, communicate across differences, and act on what they learn.

Investigate the World

Ask meaningful questions, gather evidence, and make connections.

Recognize Perspectives

Understand how culture, experience, and context shape different points of view.

Share Ideas

Express ideas effectively across languages, cultures, and audiences.

Take Action

Apply knowledge and understanding to make a meaningful contribution.

3. Culture Comes to Life

Students deepen cultural understanding by participating in traditions, stories, music, performance, and celebrations that bring language and culture into the life of the school.

4. The World Becomes the Classroom

As students grow, global learning moves beyond the classroom. International travel, sister-school exchanges, host-family experiences, and visiting teachers allow students to use their language skills in real relationships and experience another culture from within.

Study Abroad

Students use their language in authentic settings while learning through culture, history, schools, communities, and everyday life.
